Boylesports Ireland Review (2024)

Boylesports is one of the top betting companies in Europe and the brand is a popular choice for both sports and casino fans from Ireland.

With a full suite of betting products to pick from, there is something for everyone at Boylesports these days, which helps to explain why the company has been so successful.

Boylesports has an excellent reputation in the industry, with most of their customers willing to recommend signing up for an account to friends and members of their family.

This is why - check out our complete review of Boylesports for players from Ireland here.

Boylesports: A Brief History

Having been founded all the way back in 1982, Boylesports has a much longer history than a lot of the companies with which it is in competition in the online gambling era.

John Boyle founded the company by starting his first betting shop in Markethill, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. By the end of the 1980s, he had opened a further five shops in Drogheda.

From there, Boylesports continued to expand at a steady pace, becoming one of the most recognisable betting brands in Ireland, with a shop on the most high streets in the country.

In 2004, there were 77 Boylesports shops and just a couple of years later the company was able to reach the 100 mark. From there, the firm tried to be more aggressive, taking over 17 new shops from Celtic Bookmakers as well as buying out a further 15 shops from William Hill.

Boyle moved on from the role of chief executive to become chairman - he was succeeded by Conor Gray - while in 2018 the 250th Boylesports shop was opened in Ireland. The firm then announced plans to move into the UK market, as well as expanding its online presence.

Boylesports then became Ireland's biggest retail bookmaker with a buyout of 33 William Hill shops in Northern Ireland going through in January 2020.

Close links with horse racing have helped to fuel the growth of Boylesports, with the company has been the sponsor of the Grade 1 BoyleSports Champion Chase at the Punchestown Festival for more than a decade.

BoyleSports has also forked out the cash to be the shirt sponsor of English football teams Birmingham City and Coventry City in a bid to crack the UK market.

Sporting stars Stan Collymore, Joseph O'Brien and Gordon Elliott have all teamed up with Boylesports to work as brand ambassadors for the company over recent years as well.

Boylesports Products

Boylesports has been working hard to expand the types of betting products that it can offer, though unlike a lot of competitors in the field it does not currently have a poker room.

At the time of writing, all of the following products are available to use at Boylesports:

  • Sports
  • Casino
  • Live casino
  • Games
  • Bingo
  • Lotto

For the next part of our complete review of Boylesports for players from Ireland, we will go into more detail about each of the above products offered by the bookmaker.

Boylesports Sports Review

With decades of experience in the sports betting business, Boylesports by rights should be a top option in the industry - and its sportsbook smashes it out of the park.

Though the design of the Boylesports site is a little dated compared to some of the competition, it is definitely a case of substance over style here.

Horse racing, greyhounds and football are three of the top sports to bet on at Boylesports, but the bookie has it covered for a range of alternative options too. Golf, tennis and cricket are offered to a high standard, while Boylesports also provides the opportunity to bet on some more unusual sports such as badminton, bowls, rowing and netball.

GAA is available to bet on at Boylesports, which will be welcomed by a lot of Irish sports fans, while esports markets are offered too. With esports betting seeming set to become a much more important part of the industry in the coming years, Boylesports has got in early.

Virtual sports betting is offered too, which can come in handy if there are no live sports available. Virtual dogs, virtual football and virtual racing are the three options currently available.

In terms of odds, Boylesports is usually among the best bookmakers in Ireland. The company's best odds guaranteed offer for horse racing ensures very good value is always available.

Live betting is a big focus for the company, as is the case with most bookmakers these days. In-play markets are front and centre on both the site and apps, so it is quick and easy to place a wager on a live event. There are usually lots of live markets to pick from here as well.

The UK and Irish horse racing is the main live streaming option at Boylesports right now, with greyhound racing streams also available on the site too.

As with the main site, the look of Boylesports' mobile site is hardly state of the art, but it gets the job done. All the same sports and markets are offered and can be accessed easily enough.

Boylesports Casino Review

The Boylesport online casino has been up and running for a while now, so how does the site compare to those run by the many industry rivals out there with similar offerings?

Well, it is fair to say the experience of the Boylesports casino is not particularly slick, with the same no-frills style seen elsewhere on the website. But everything works as well as it should, so most people will not be too bothered about the design or any other bells and whistles.

Logging into the Boylesports casino presents users with a grid of slot games. Like most online casinos now, slots are the main focus for Boylesports when it comes to this section of the site. Age of the Gods slots are some of the most popular games at the Boylesports online casino, which does not have quite as big a range of titles as at other comparable sites.

Irish sports fans will be happy to see various online slots based on racing, while there are football games and a slot bearing the name of snooker icon Ronnie O'Sullivan too.

However, some of the world's most famous slots - like Book of Dead - do not appear to be available to play, suggesting the casino needs to work on adding more licenses. Instead of Book of Dead, for example, Boylesports has Jane Jones' Book of Kings 2.

Superhero slots are a stronger area, though, with lots of games based on DC heroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Flash all available to play on the site. The Vegas tab on the Boylesports online casino adds even more slots, such as Megaways games, along with jackpot specials, with the library seemingly being updated on a regular basis.

Sections for new slots and jackpot games are simple to navigate too, while users can make the most of the search bar if there is a particular casino game they are hoping to find at Boylesports. The default option is to order the casino games by top picks, but it is possible to rank them in an A-Z or by order of their popularity at the online casino instead.

Card and table games have their own area at the Boylesports casino, so for those not interested in slots this is likely to be the primary port of call. Various blackjack games can be found here, while there is a lot of variety in the roulette and poker games that can be found too.

Live dealer games are one of the more recent additions to the Boylesports online casino library, so let's have a look at those next.

Boylesports Live Casino Review

As live casino games are one of the hottest trends in the industry right now, Boylesports has made sure it has a special section on its site for this option.

At the Boylesports live casino, roulette and blackjack are the two main games that are available to play, with plenty of variations in the twin casino classics to pick from.

Baccarat and Sic Bo are among the other games that can be played, while there are a trio of live casino poker games offered as well as a handful of jackpot live casino games too.

Football Roulette is one of the more unusual offerings at the Boylesports live casino, which also has Deal or No Deal and Buffalo Blitz games available.

The range of live casino games is not quite as strong with Boylesports when compared to other big betting brands, but casual players will find there is enough to keep them entertained.

It is also likely that the number of games at the Boylesports live casino will expand in the future, so this will certainly be worth keeping a close eye on in the months and years to come.

Boylesports Games Review

The games section is a spin-off of the Boylesports casino, with even more slots offered here.

Again, the choice can be a little generic, with the site promoting John Hunter and the Book of Tut as a result of not having the world-famous Book of Dead slot game available to play.

In the Boylesports games section, players can find games like Starburst, Rainbow Riches and Mega Moolah, which is known across the planet for its gigantic jackpot wins. Mega Moolah will no doubt be one of the top games to play on this section of the Boylesports website.

It is hard to say exactly how many more slots can be found here, but the offerings look to be updated often so it is always going to be worth it for Boylesports users to check back regularly.

Instant win games are offered here too, with a couple of Keno titles sitting alongside the likes of Hot Cross Bunnies, Sunset Reels, It Came From The Moon and Sunken Treasure.

Card and table games have been added to the Boylesports games tab too, with solitaire fans likely to be thrilled to be able to play their favourite game at this online casino site.

Finn and the Swirly Spin, Gonzo's Quest, Jumanji and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire are some of the most popular games to play, while there is even a slot based on the band Guns N' Roses.

Boylesports Bingo Review

Bingo has proven to be surprisingly lucrative for online casinos, with Boylesports trying to eat a slice of the pie through its own offering in this department.

The Boylesports bingo offering is quite simple, with a range of rooms to suit different budgets.

Those who want to play for a penny can do so, while there is the option to buy more expensive tickets for the chance to win big as well.

This section of the Boylesports site is also home to a games tab where there is a range of even more slots, with many of these having an Irish theme. While the likes of Clover Rollover and Irish Luck might seem as though they are a little cheesy, they are likely to find an audience here.

Community is at the heart of the Boylesports bingo offering, with the operator working hard to try to make sure their customers feel like they are included in a club. As bingo is a very social activity offline, this looks like it will be a smart move as Boylesports tries to attract users.

In order to make people feel engaged, a range of games are run in Boylesports bingo rooms throughout the day, with these taking place from 11am to 11pm every day. Moderators will run games such as Missing Vowels and Guess The Year to give users something else to play.

There are also two weekly prizes up for grabs - Roomie of the Week and Comment of the Week - which helps to reward the loyalty of regular visitors to the Boylesports bingo website.

Newcomers will also be grateful for the Bingo Lingo page, which explains some of the terms used in the chatrooms by bingo players during the exciting action at Boylesports.

Boylesports Lotto Review

The last of the Boylesports products we are going to review here is Lotto, with the site offering customers the chance to place wagers on lotteries from all over the world.

As an example, the Irish Lotto, French Lotto and Euro Lotto are all currently offered. There is a schedule page that shows the full range of lotteries, which includes the UK Lotto, the New York Lotto and the Spanish Lotto.

Most Irish sports fans have likely never even thought of betting on lotteries, but this is an option that is growing in popularity so it is good that Boylesports has the option up for grabs.

Overall, the Boylesports Lotto option can be considered up there with the best around. Those who have not bet on the lottery before will find it is the ideal place to get up and running.

The lotteries available to bet on are just one of the Boylesports products on their apps.

Boylesports Gambling Apps

With mobile betting so popular right now, Boylesports has released a brace of apps that are available to download on to iOS and Android devices from the App Store or Play Store.

This is a big tick in the box, as a lot of betting apps have to be downloaded via other methods, which can be rather complicated and time-consuming.

Many of the top rivals to Boylesports have opted to split up their products and create apps for each of them. However, at Boylesports, all of their products can be used on the same app, which a lot of people are likely to find is preferable as they only need one piece of software.

The design of the apps is simple and follows a similar structure to the Boylesports website on desktop or mobile, so customers are likely to find them quite easy to navigate.

However, it is fair to say that the Boylesports mobile apps for iOS and Android are not the fastest around and the lack of speed might be frustrating, for example when trying to place a quick wager on a live in-play market for the big game.

There are certainly improvements that can be made to the apps by Boylesports, with some users likely to find it is preferable to stick to either the company's mobile or desktop sites.

Boylesports Security and Regulation

Boylesports is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) and Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner, so users do not have to be worried about the firm being regulated.

In November 2020, the Gambling Commission announced that it had fined Boylesports £2.8 million and added conditions to its licence over a failed money-laundering risk assessment.

"Boylesports cooperated fully with the investigation and acknowledged the findings from the outset,” said a statement that was released by the betting brand at the time.

Boylesports uses 128-bit SSL encryption on its website, which ensures that all data from customers is kept safe and secure at all times.

Additionally, Boylesports has the latest firewall technology in place to keep its security methods as up to date as possible, which should help to further reassure the company's customers.

Anti-fraud technology is also used by the betting brand for all transactions, indicating that lessons have been learned by Boylesports following its recent big fine from UKGC.

In terms of security and regulation, Boylesports has no major concerns whatsoever.
