Rajasthan Royals will go into the match as the favourites. They will be playing at home and the conditions will help them big times. The Super Giants need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to get the better of the Jaipur-based franchise.
Yashasvi Jaiswal looks like a classical young batter and has been stupendous in his career thus far. Last year, the left-handed made the record for most runs by an uncapped batter in a single edition of the IPL. He also broke KL Rahul’s record for the fastest fifty in the IPL off a mere 13 balls. Having scored 1172 runs from 37 games for the Royals, he has shown how lethal he can be.
Nicholas Pooran can be a brute force with the bat and can take apart any bowling attack on his day. The former West Indies skipper is also someone who can tee off right from the outset. In 15 IPL matches last season, he smashed 26 sixes and played at a strike-rate of 172.94. In 315 T20 matches, Pooran has hit 453 sixes. Given the batting friendly pitches in India, Pooran is again expected to make hay.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24.
The Royals will be looking to end their long wait of winning the title. After Shane Warne led them to glory in 2008, let alone winning a title, they have struggled at times to even qualify for the playoffs.
Last year, the Royals failed to finish in the top four. In the IPL auction in December 2023, RR bought the likes of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and West Indies T20I skipper Rovman Powell to strengthen their squad. The focus will also be on the likes of Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Ashwin and others.
The Super Giants, on the other hand, have KL Rahul back as their skipper. Last year, Rahul sustained an injury midway through the tournament and was ruled out. Thereafter, Krunal Pandya took charge of them. However, they could not progress beyond the Eliminator.
In fact, in both the seasons they have taken part in, LSG made their way through to the playoffs only to crash out. Along with Rahul, the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Mayers and Ravi Bishnoi will have to play a crucial role if the Super Giants are to go all the way.
The Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants have faced each other 3 times since their first meeting back in 2022. The Royals won in their first 2 meetings before the Super Giants beat them last year at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
