Rajasthan Royals will go into the game as favourites. Having won their first game, Samson’s men will be brimming with confidence. The Capitals need to at their very best to have any chance of rolling over RR in the latter’s backyard.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to be the top batter for the Royals in the next game. He has been among the runs and there is no reason why he cannot get a big score under his belt. The left-handed batter scored 24 runs off 12 balls against the Super Giants and looked in decent form before Mohsin Khan accounted for his wicket.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be up against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 9th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The Royals, led by Sanju Samson, made a brilliant start to their campaign after they won their first home match against the Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. The 2008 champions beat KL Rahul’s men by 20 runs. After opting to bat first, the Royals put up a huge score of 193 for 4 on the board.
Skipper Samson led from the front after he scored 82 of 52 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. Riyan Parag was entrusted to bat at No.4 and he chipped in with a handy 43-run knock. Thereafter. Trent Boult and others bowled well to help RR restrict LSG to 173 for 6.
The Capitals, on the other hand, did not make the best of starts after losing to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets at the newly-built venue in Mullanpur.
After being asked to bat first, the Capitals scored 174 for the loss of nine wickets. Abhishek Porel came in as Impact Sub and played a blistering knock. However, his valiant efforts went in vain as the Kings chased down the target with 4 balls left in their innings.
Ishant Sharma twisted his ankle in the previous game, and there is no update on how fit he is. South Africa fast bowler Anrich Nortje, in the meantime, has joined the DC camp and would be raring to step out.
There is very little to differentiate between the two teams. Out of 27 matches, the Capitals have won 14 times while the Royals win 13 games. In Jaipur, the Royals have won 4 out of 6 matches against DC since their first meeting back in 2008.
The head-to-head record is tight, but the Royals have dominated at home. In their previous meeting on April 8, 2023, RR beat the Capitals by 57 runs at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
