RCB will go into the match as favourites as they will be playing at home. KKR will be high on confidence after beating SRH, but going past RCB may not be a walk in the park.
Virat Kohli looked nervous in his first game against the Super Kings. He also looked jittery against PBKS after he got a lifeline when he was yet to open his account. But once he found his feet, he kept playing some exquisite shots. Having scored 861 runs against KKR with a hundred back in 2019, Kohli has decent records against RCB’s upcoming opponents.
Andre Russell is a beast when it comes to six-hitting. The fact that even his mishits go for sixes is worrying signs for the opposition. He smashed 7 sixes against the Sunrisers and broke Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest batter to 200 sixes in the IPL. He will enjoy batting in Bengaluru as the track there is expected to be an absolute belter.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face each other in the 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host the contest.
The Challengers began their campaign with a 6-wicket loss at the hands of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Mustafizur Rahman picked up 4 wickets and blew away the RCB batting lineup. Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik tried their hearts out, but their efforts could not pay dividends.
However, RCB made amends after beating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli, their reliable batter since 2008, scored 77 runs off 49 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Karthik raced to scoring an unbeaten 28 off 10 balls as RCB chased down the target with 4 balls to spare.
The Knights, on the other hand, beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a thrilling contest at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Andre Russell was the star of the show after he smashed an unbeaten 64 off 25 balls. Later he also accounted for the wicket of Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma.
Ramandeep Singh garnered praise after he scored 36 runs off 17 balls and bailed KKR out of jail. Mitchell Starc, who fetched INR 24.75 crore in the auction that took place in December, leaked 53 runs, and failed to pick up a single wicket.
Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for KKR after he picked up 3 wickets for 33 runs. He also showed nerves of steel in the last over when he defended 13 runs.
The Knights and the Challengers have faced each other 33 times since their first meeting back in 2008. KKR won 19 times, while RCB finished on the winning side 14 times. But in Bengaluru, the Knights have had the upper hand with a win-loss record of 8-4 in their favour.
In their last 5 meetings, KKR have won 4 times. The last time these two teams met, the Knights beat the Challengers by 21 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
