The Super Giants will go into the match as favourites, although the Kings will also be in with a great chance of securing victory. LSG will be aware of the home conditions and hence, will have the advantage.
Shikhar Dhawan has been a prolific run-scorer for the Kings in the last couple of seasons. In 2 matches thus far in IPL 2024, Dhawan has scored 67 runs at an average of 33.50. After getting off to starts, the veteran left-handed batter will be looking to get a big score under his belt.
Nicholas Pooran is someone who can clear the ropes with ease. The southpaw showed his skills against the Royals as he smashed 4 sixes in his knock of 64. If he gets the measure of the PBKS bowling attack, it would not be easy to put a lid on him by any means.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be up against each other in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host the contest.
The Super Giants did not make the best of starts to their campaign after losing to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 20 runs in their first game. Their bowlers faltered big time as the Royals put up a huge score of 193 for 4 on the back of Sanju Samson’s 52-ball knock of 82.
Krunal Pandya was the pick of their bowlers as he gave away only 19 runs in 4 overs, although he could not pick up a wicket. KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran scored 58 and 64 overs respectively, but LSG could only finish with 173 for 6.
The Kings, on the other hand, looked in ominous touch after they beat Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC) in their opening game by 4 wickets. Sam Curran scored a half-century to take his team past the finish line. Liam Livingstone also used the long handle to good effect.
However, the Kings slumped to their first defeat of the season after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat them at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After being asked to bat first, PBKS scored 176 for 6 in 20 overs.
PBKS were in the game until the penultimate over when Dinesh Karthik’s 28-run cameo in the death overs took the match away from them. Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar was outstanding, to say the least, as he picked up 2 wickets for 13 runs, but his efforts went in vain.
The Super Giants and the Kings have faced each other 3 times since their first meeting in 2022. LSG have won 2 matches while PBKS finished on the winning side 1 time.
In their previous meeting, LSG beat PBKS by 56 runs at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. In their only meeting in Lucknow, the Kings beat the Super Giants by 2 wickets after chasing down 160 in a thriller.
