Chennai Super Kings will go into the match as firm favourites. CSK have shown dominance thus far and there is no reason why they should not be able to beat the Capitals, who have found the going tough until now in the tournament.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a class act for the Super Kings for quite some time now. In the ongoing edition of the league, he has scored 61 runs at an average of 30.50. After missing out against the Bengaluru team, Gaikwad chipped in with a handy knock of 46 against the Titans. If he gets his eyes in, it would be tough to stop him.
Ricky Bhui is expected to hit the most sixes in the game between the Super Kings and the Capitals. He is not in the best of form as he has scored only 3 runs from 2 matches at an average of 1.50. Although he has struggled, the odds suggest that he has the best chance of hitting most sixes in the match.
Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face each other in the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday, March 31. Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam will host the contest.
The Capitals have got off to a poor start to their journey in the ongoing edition of the T20 league. They had their chances against Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings (PBKS), but ended up losing the game by 4 wickets. DC slumped to back-to-back defeats after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 12 runs.
After being asked to chase down a stiff target of 186, the Capitals could only end up with 173 for 5. Tristan Stubbs chipped in with a valiant knock of 44 runs off 23 balls, but his efforts went in vain.
The Super Kings, on the other hand, have made a stupendous start under their new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. Having won both their matches, CSK have been brilliant thus far. They began their campaign after beating Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The 5-time champions upped the ante and beat the Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at the Chepauk. After putting up a huge score of 206 for 6 in 20 overs, the restricted GT to 143 for 8. Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande picked up 2 wickets apiece. Earlier, Shivam Dube’s 51 and a couple of 46 from Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra laid the platform for them.
The Capitals and the Super Kings have faced each other 29 times since their first meeting back in 2008. CSK have won 19 times while DC won 10 games.
In their previous meeting, CSK beat the Capitals by 77 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In their only meeting in Vizag back in 2019, CSK defeated DC by 6 wickets after chasing down 148.
