Mumbai Indians will start the match as favourites. Although they are yet to win a single match this season, they should be able to get off the mark while playing at home.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is yet to be at his best in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament. In 2 matches, the left-handed batter has scored 29 runs at an average of 14.50. But his strike-rate of 152.63 shows that he has had the intent throughout. It is only a matter of time before he gets going.
Dewald Brevis has looked good thus far for MI with the bat in hand. In 1 match, he has scored 46 runs at a strike-rate of 2 fours and 3 sixes. Brevis has built a reputation for being a powerful striker of the ball. He is again expected to lead the six-hitting chart in the next game.
Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Monday, April 1. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host the contest.
The Royals, led by Sanju Samson, would be happy with their start in the tournament. They have won both their matches until now and have 4 points and a net run rate of +0.800. They beat KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 20 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Then they took down Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals (DC), beating them by 12 runs. While it was Samson, who sparkled against the Super Giants, Parag’s unbeaten 84 hogged the headlines against the Capitals. Parag missed out on scoring a fifty against LSG, but won the Player of the Match award against the Capitals.
MI, captained by Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, have had their fair share of troubles. Having lost both their games against the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), MI need to pull themselves up from the bottom half of the points table.
Against SRH, they lost by 31 runs after the match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad turned out to be a run-fest. The Sunrisers took their bowlers to the cleaners after putting up the highest ever score of 277 for 3 in the history of the IPL.
Chasing the mammoth target, MI were in the hunt for quite a while before they eventually ran out of steam. MI hit 20 sixes in their innings, but they were not enough. Hardik needs to find a way to turning Mumbai’s fortunes around in the championship after a poor start.
The Royals and Mumbai have faced 30 times in the history of the IPL. RR have won 13 times, MI won 16 while one match was abandoned. In their previous meeting, MI beat the Royals by 6 wickets after chasing down a mammoth target of 213. At the Wankhede Stadium, the head-to-head record stands at 5-3 in favour of the Mumbai based team.
