RCB are expected to win their next game. Although they have had their fair share of troubles, the Challengers should be able to beat the Super Giants, who may struggle with their bowling in Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli has been in impressive form in the ongoing edition of the T20 league. He has scored 181 runs from 3 games at an average of 90.50 and a strike-rate of 141.4 with 2 half-centuries. That he scored an unbeaten 83 against KKR should keep him in good stead ahead of the match against the Super Giants.
Nicholas Pooran has always been a genuine six-hitter for whichever team he has played for. In IPL 2024, Pooran has scored 106 runs at an average of 106 and a strike-rate of 170.76. With 7 sixes to his name, the former West Indies T20I skipper has given an account of his power-hitting prowess.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face each other in the 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Tuesday, April 2. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host the contest.
The Challengers have struggled to some extent. Faf du Plessis and Co. have been far from being clinical. They started their campaign after losing to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), they somehow managed to survive after Virat Kohli’s half-century, and Dinesh Karthik’s late cameo bailed them out of jail.
However, their bowling was badly exposed in the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Virat Kohli scored 83 runs off 59 balls with 4 fours and as many sixes, helping his team post 182 for 6. However, the Knights chased down the target with 21 balls to spare. Barring Vijaykumar Vyshak, none of the RCB bowlers looked at ease.
The Super Giants, on the other hand, did not make the best of starts after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 20 runs. However, they stormed back after beating Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 21 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
After batting first, LSG put up a big score of 199 for 8 on the board. Quinton de Kock scored 54, while Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya made 42 and 43 not out, respectively.
Thereafter, they restricted the Kings to 178 for 5. LSG also unearthed a world-class talent in the form of Mayank Yadav, who bowled the fastest ball of IPL 2024 at 155.8 km/h and grabbed the limelight.
Mayank also won the Player of the Match award after he got the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma. Left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan also did brilliantly as he got crucial wickets.
The Challengers and the Super Giants have faced 4 times since 2022. RCB have won 3 times while LSG finished on the winning side only once. In their previous meeting, RCB beat LSG by 18 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
