The Super Giants will go into their match against the Titans as the favourites. KL Rahul and Co. began with a defeat to Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. But since then, they have looked in tremendous form, especially after Mayank Yadav’s introduction into the playing XI.
Quinton de Kock has been outstanding for the Super Giants at the top of the order. In 3 games, the South African batter has racked up 139 runs at an average of 46.33 and a strike-rate of 140.4 with 2 half-centuries and a top score of 81 to his name. If he gets going, it would be tough for the GT batters to stop him.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will cross swords in the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday, April 7. The Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host the contest.
The Super Giants failed to go beyond the Eliminator in the 2022 and 2023 editions of the T20 league. However, this year, LSG seem to be one of the teams to beat. They looked nervous against the Rajasthan Royals as they lost by 20 runs. But since then, there have been no stopping them whatsoever.
After losing to RR, they beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 21 runs. Thereafter, they beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 28 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Playing at home in their next game, the Super Giants have a golden chance to make it 3 wins on the trot in the tournament.
The Titans, on the other hand, are yet to find any kind of consistency. They started with a close win against the Mumbai Indians (MI) before tasting their first defeat at the hands of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, they got back to winning ways after beating the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets at home.
Against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), GT got themselves in a position of command after scoring 199. But then, the Kings chased down the target with a ball left in their innings. Shashank Singh scored 61 runs off 29 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes, taking the game away from the Titans.
The Titans have won all 4 of their matches against Lucknow thus far since their first meeting back in 2022. The head-to-head record is 4-0 in favour of the Titans. In their previous meeting on May 7, 2023, GT beat the Super Giants by 56 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Titans scored 227 for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs on the back of Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 51-ball knock of 94. Thereafter, GT restricted their opponents to 171 for 7.
